There are many options helping people protect their homes just as the summer travel season gets underway.
"You can never be too cautious. Layers of security are what's important. There's not an all in one item or something. So, you want to look for layers," said Kevin Ormonde of Kern Security and Fire. Leaders with area security companies say 80 percent of break-ins happen through an open door.
